Description
Clostridium Chauvoei-Septicum-Novyi-Sordellii-Perfringens Types C & D-Moraxella Bovis Bacterin-Toxoid. Alpha-7/MB™ bacterin-toxoid is prepared from chemically inactivated cultures of the above organisms with a special DD-2™ adjuvant system to maximize immune response. Contains gentamicin as a preservative.
Features
A single dose provides proven protective levels of immunity for clostridia.
M bovis fraction, in controlled studies under field conditions, gave over 90% efficacy.
M bovis expresses I and Q phase pilus antigens.
Booster M bovis pinkeye fraction after 21 days.
DD-2 adjuvant stimulates a high degree, long duration protection.
Low volume 2 mL dose.
Sub-Q administration.
Benefits
Meets NCBA Beef Quality Assurance guidelines.
Eliminates damage resulting from IM administration.
Advantages
Alpha-7/MB is safe for use in all cattle.
Dosage & Administration
Using aseptic technique inject a single 2 mL dose Sub-Q. Vaccinate calves at 3 months of age or older prior to the infectious bovine keroto-conjunctivitis season. Revaccinate after 21 days with Ocu-guard® MB bacterin. A 2 mL booster dose is recommended annually.
Precautions
Store at 35° - 45° F (2° - 7° C). Avoid freezing. Shake well before using. Use entire contents when first opened. Do not vaccinate within 60 days of slaughter. The use of a biological product in lactating dairy cattle can cause reduced milk production. Swelling at the injection site will often occur that may persist. Anaphylactoid reactions may occur.
Antidote: Epinephrine.
Uses
Alpha-7/MB is recommended for vaccination of healthy, susceptible cattle, including bred heifers and lactating beef cattle, as an aid in the reduction of diseases caused by Cl chauvoei, Cl septicum, Cl novyi, Cl sordellii, Cl perfringens Types C and D toxins and M bovis. Immunity may be provided against the beta and epsilon toxins elaborated by Cl perfringens Type B. This immunity is derived from the combination of Type C (beta) and Type D (epsilon) fractions.
Warning
Animal inoculation only. Accidental injection in humans can cause serious local reactions. Contact a physician immediately if accidental injection occurs.
